For the 2012 model year, the Jeep Wrangler will finally get Chrysler’s much-loved 3.6 Pentastar V6 engine and a brand new five-speed transmission. The Pentastar V6 produces 285-horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, that’s an improvement of 83-hp and 23 lb-ft over the three.8-liter V6 utilized in the older model.
With both a brand new engine and a brand new five-speed automatic transmission (instead of a four-speed), the 2012 Wrangler is quicker and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor. Its 0-60 mph run time is available in at 8.4 seconds, while its fuel-economy numbers are estimated to be 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. A six-speed manual gearbox can be now available for the most recent Wrangler.
Aside from the Wrangler Rubicon now sharing an analogous body-color hardtop because the Sahara models, there aren’t any other changes for the 2012 model year. Both-door Wrangler and 4-door Wrangler Unlimited will still be offered in four trim-levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon.
