Mercedes and AMG are introducing new technology options for the SLS supercar. The cherry on the top is the hot AMG Ride Control.
How this new ride control system with adaptive dampers work is extremely boring, but here’s what it means briefly: Reckoning on the driving situation, speed and road surface conditions, this optional system almost instantly varies the damping characteristics and automatically reduces the body roll angles. For the driving force this means immediate and variable adaptation between the best possible agility and the absolute best ride comfort – for any driving style and route.
This system comes with a funky new shock absorber symbol within the AMG DRIVE UNIT next to the E-SELECT lever. It has three programs for comfort, sport and sport plus.
“Comfort” is suggested for cruising at moderate speeds
In “Sport” mode the shock absorbers have a tauter response
“Sport plus” is usually recommended for instant lap times on a race circuit
Other new options you are able to order on your SLS include Blind Spot Assist that improves active safety, AMG 10-spoke forged wheels painted in matt black, red-painted brake callipers or AMG high-gloss black trim make for much more exclusivity. Single-tone or two-tone designo leather in espresso brown is offered as a brand new interior colour – this dark shade of brown perfectly matches the hot metallic paint finish AMG Sepang brown.
