The spot that housed carriages is now a library and a great room. What were once the stables are a living UGG Classic Cardy Boots and kitchen. And a former abandoned hayloft is a master bedroom, a playroom and a bedroom for 8-year-old son Mark Oliver. Throughout are fireplaces, Oriental rugs and refinished old two-and-a-half inch wide pine floors. Mark used wood from a dead ash tree and old pine barn beams to make the furniture—beds, cabinets, fireplace UGG Classic Short Boots, wood heating grates, bookshelves and tables. Much of the furniture is modeled after pieces Mark's grandfather, Kurt Vonnegut, Sr., or "Doc", an architect, made for his house in Indianapolis that are now in Mark's house.

The walls are covered with Mark's paintings, dark oils of owls and forests and lighthearted watercolors of sailboats and fish. Outside in the one-acre yard, next to the tennis court and the swimming pool, is an enormous play fort Mark and Mark Oliver built around a giant pine tree.

.Kurt Vonnegut died in 2007; his artwork and mementos are scattered throughout the house. A self-portrait carved on an old barn beam is propped up at the tennis court gate; a silkscreen of a bed and Kurt's face is in Mark Oliver's room. In the library, Mark keeps a wooden fraternity paddle Kurt carved as a pledge to Delta Upsilon fraternity at Cornell University next to a sword with a swastika on it that Kurt brought back from the war. "They got each other's jokes and writing like no one else," said Mrs. Vonnegut.
