Tips & Advice for Inspecting a Used Car

Buying a used car can be the fastest, simplest and cheapest way to your perfect car. You don't need to be a mechanic to inspect a used car, but there are a few golden rules. Get a car history check to establish if the car has any outstanding finance, has been stolen or written off Examine the car's documents -- logbook, service history and previous MOT certificates -- to spot if the car has been clocked Check the car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at the base of the windscreen, under the bonnet and stamped into the chassis under the carpet beside the driver's seat for signs of tampering, and make sure they match the VIN recorded in the logbook Look for rust, mismatched paint and uneven gaps between body panels Make sure all the car's features work By reading key documents including the V5C (logbook), service history and MOT certificates then checking key points around the car, you will be able to quickly assess if the vehicle you are viewing is as described in its advert The test drive is your chance to asses every aspect of the car, from how it feels on the road, to making sure all its equipment works correctly. Always take a test drive of at least 15 minutes and on different types of road Arrange suitable insurance cover before you drive the car Start the car when the engine is cold, and check for excessive smoke and unusual noises Check the gears, brakes, steering and suspension work as they should, with no unusual noises and vibrations

Car Audio 101 - The Big 3 Upgrade Tutorial

DIY with Mike Stiers www.maxxsonics.com So you've decided to upgrade your car stereo system? A great deal of research and planning should go into this purchase since there is a lot to consider. Do you desire a nice upgrade of your factory speakers, are you looking for a Sound Quality overall of speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers, or are you designing a vision-blurring SPL machine? It is important to make a list of exactly what you are looking to replace or add to your audio system so that you can prepare your electrical system for the investment to come. Many people do not realize that their vehicles factory electrical system was not designed for aftermarket audio equipment. In fact, most factory electrical systems can only handle an audio system of 600 to 1200 watts. The lower end of the scale being the smaller vehicles and most foreign rides, and the upper end being large trucks and sport utility vehicles. As you increase demand, you need to look at upgrading your battery, alternator and most importantly your Big 3. THE BIG 3 The Big 3 consists of upgrading three wires under the hood of your vehicle. You can completely replace the three wires detailed below, or simply add additional wires to existing factory wires, the choice is yours. The existing factory wires are generally 8 gauge or smaller and are not designed for the high current demands of an aftermarket audio system. It is recommended that you use a nice insulated 0 gauge wire so that you only have to do this ...

On Causation and the Ethics of Discourse (MIRROR)

My favorite Youtuber, TheoreticalBullshit just put out a new video (about time), and since he asked for help in getting it to the attention of that used-car salesman of and apologist William Lane Craig, I thought that mirroring it was the least I could do. If you think it's a worthwhile cause then please consider doing the same. In addition, if you're still unaware of TBS' work then you could find a lot worse ways of spending your time than going to his channel and watching ALL of his videos: www.youtube.com Craig's responses: hr-hr.facebook.com www.reasonablefaith.org Theo Warner's Tuesday Afternoon article: 12tuesday.com Go here to submit questions to Dr. Craig: www.reasonablefaith.org Klraifying Kalam Kraziness: www.youtube.com I'm working on a couple of shorter non-HH pwnage videos at the moment so there should be some new TLD material out soon. Also, the user bdwilson1000 has suggested you check out the following link for more flaws in the KCA: wiki.ironchariots.org

2008 Audi A6 2.7 TDI Multitronic start up and engine sound

Filmed by: Toma Koar Jesenice Luxury-car shoppers who love value have long cheered the Audi A6. And in true Audi fashion, the midsize A6 gives you a lot for a very competitive price. One of the A6's primary strengths is its deluxe cabin. Materials are first-rate, and the overall design is nothing short of class-leading. Its winter-weather capability is another plus. A6s are available with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which distributes power to all four wheels, making slippery roads more manageable. But the car's most compelling asset concerns value. In terms of overall quality, the Audi A6 is right up there with other midsize luxury cars, but it costs thousands less. A used A6 represents an even more affordable proposition. There have been three generations of the Audi A6, and all are worthy selections. If there's a downside to the A6, it's that it hasn't been the most athletic choice in its segment due to engines in earlier models that were somewhat light on low-end torque. But that pales in the face of this car's undisputable merits. Offering premium refinement at a respectable price, the A6 is an excellent choice. Current Audi A6 With its clean lines and oversized grille, the current Audi A6 is one of the most distinctive midsize luxury cars on the market. It's available as both a sedan and a wagon. The A6 wagon -- called the Avant -- is one of the few midsize luxury wagons on the market, and with a 34-cubic-foot cargo bay behind its rear seat, it makes a ...
