Feeling a little curious, are you- So that you need to know what percentage cars there are on this planet, do you- Well, we have now the reply. According a research conducted by Wards Auto, there are approximately 1.015 billion cars on this planet as of 2010, that’s a three.6 percent increase from the 980 million vehicles in 2009.
In its research, Wards defined “vehicle” to incorporate cars, light, medium and heavy duty trucks, and buses, but not off-road and heavy duty vehicles. Not surprising, the largest culprits for the rise were China and India. China saw a rise of 27% in 2010 and, with regards to sheer numbers, made up half the general unit increase. With 78 million operational vehicles — greater than the choice of vehicles in Japan, for the 1st time — China is now the second one largest on the earth, trailing just the U.S and its 239.8 million vehicle.
As impressive as China’s increase maybe, India saw the largest jump, having increased from 19.1 vehicles in 2009 to twenty.8 vehicles in 2010 (8.9% increase). Brazil had the second one biggest volume increase in 2010.
Globally, the ratio of vehicles to people stood at 1:6.75 in accordance with an overall world population of 6.9 billion. The U.S. held the top ratio at 1:1.3, followed by Italy at 1:1.45 after which by the united kingdom, France, and Japan at around 1:1.7. China, with a population of one.3 billion population, had a ratio of one:17.2, while India, with the second one largest population on this planet (over 1.17 billion people), had a ratio of one:56.3.
